Meditation is an easy thing but it can be tricky too for some people. You dim the lights, sit in a quiet place but still you find something missing in Meditation. Candles have been used for centuries to light up the spiritual paths of humans. The flame of the Candle is the perfect to use in the practice of Meditation. How to use Candle for Meditation?

- Choose a Quiet and Darkened Place For Meditation
It’s Important for the people who meditate that they choose the right place to Meditate. The place shouldn’t be too brighter or too Louder, where you won’t find relaxation. Find a quiet and darkened place where you won’t find disturbance for an hour so.Make sure that the room temperature is pleasant for you.
A scientific study has found that people who spend some of their time alone are capable of thinking smarter than those who don’t spend. 😀 Well, I would suggest you to spend at least an hour alone in a garden or wherever you like.
It is important that the flame remains steady during the concentration routine. So, make sure that there no breeze around in the room to disturb the flame. If needed, turn off any fans or air conditioner in the room.
- Set Your Meditation Goals
Set your goals or focus for your meditation session, For example, you may choose to meditate on inner peace, protection or purification or you may choose to focus on Wealth, prosperity and abundance.
It would be great if you set your goal because people who first set goal before doing anything pretend to do that thing quickly instead of people who don’t. Well, I would suggest you to first make a proper schedule of yours and then set what to do and for how much time you have to do that specific task. 😀
3. Choose The Right Candle(s)
Look for candles made from beeswax, or soy wax. They are non-toxic and burn longer. Many candles are made with toxic substances such as paraffin, which release harmful vapors when burning.
You may be free to pick any colour candle if you just want to Meditate for Relaxation but there are particular colour candles for particular spiritual meanings.
The candle or Candles must be chosen according to your goals which you have set for Meditation period.
We can know the colours and their qualities from the Historical and Metaphysics views like white or blue candle is for inner peace, protection or purification, Purple candles for spirituality. Orange or blue for healing, Red for passion, energy or power. Pink for love and green for wealth and prosperity.
Well, there are a lot of candles available in the market that aren’t very dark, so I would suggest you to pick a perfect and a dark candle that you won’t feel uncomfortable. If you find any candle brighter and you feel uncomfortable to open your eyes, then I would suggest you to use any other lighter candle. 😀
- Sit Comfortably
It’s important for you to sit in a position which is comfortable for you, so you can be absolutely still for 30 to 60 minutes.
Sit on a chair with your feet flat on the floor or you can also sit cross-legged on a cushion on the floor. Place your hands on your lap. Keep your back straight throughout the practice.
If you are unable to find a comfortable place for yourself, then I would suggest you to use a couch or a pillow below you to sit. 🙂
- Light The Candle And Meditate
After being everything done, it’s time to meditate. Light the Candle and position it at your eye level. The candle should be 50 Cm away from you and in a position that you are able to maintain a comfortable posture while focusing on the Candle.
Now you need to stare at the candle and to distract yourself from all the daily life worries and thoughts except the mantra you want to practice. Keep your vision focused and steady on the flame without blinking.
While staring you’ll probably wander and your eyes will water a little. Don’t get distracted; when these type of things arises quickly take your attention back to the Candle flame. Never become discouraged if your mind is busy, or beat yourself up because you are finding it difficult to stay focused.
Keep gazing into the candle flame and the time will come when your eyes will be open, but you will not be actually seeing anything but the small flame in front of you. As a result, it feels as though there is no distance between yourself and the flame. In essence, you have become one with the flame.
This type of Meditation is basically to improve your concentration skill. In this Meditation you usually focus on a physical thing rather then focusing on your own Mantra.
